One of the biggest barriers to education is cost. To help address skills shortages and make training accessible, the South Australian and Australian governments have partnered to offer Fee-Free TAFE places .
As of June 2025, TAFE SA has recorded a massive 18,668 enrolments across all fee-free TAFE programs since the initiative began in 2023 . This initiative is designed for students who may otherwise be unable to afford vocational education.
Specifically, a Fee-Free TAFE in Construction (FFTC) program was launched to build critical skills in the state. A total of 1,340 places have been allocated for FFTC in 2025-26 .
